Arenac County is located in Michigan. A census indicated that Arenac County had a total population of 15,002 in 2020. The current county seat is Standish.
It was organized in 1883.
The name Arenac, coined by Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, US Indian Agent, and ethnologist, is a derivation of the Latin arena and the Native American ac.

To obtain a record copy, residents have to pay a fee. First copies of birth records cost $15, with further copies obtained simultaneously costing an added $5 in Arenac County. Death records in Arenac County cost $15 for the first copy and $5 for every copy after that. Marriage certificates in Arenac County will set a person back $15 for a first copy and $5 for each after.
NOTE - Arenac County has a number of guidelines that have to be followed regarding applying to obtain records. Arenac County locals have to make requests for records between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Some form of photo ID is needed to obtain records - either driver's license or a state ID would suffice. Only requests for access to records put in writing will be accepted.
