Emmet County birth records document county births. For 100 years after the birth, state law restricts access to the following persons:
- The registrant listed on the birth record if at least 15 years old.
- A parent listed on the birth record.
- The registrant’s legal guardian with a certified copy of the court-appointed legal guardianship papers.
- A court of competent jurisdiction. The application must include a court order.
- The registrant’s licensed legal representative. The application must include a letter with the representative’s official letterhead stating who is being represented.
