What are Troy Public Records?

Theft occurred more than any other crime with a total of 918 cases. The 2019 crime rate in Troy, MI, is 3.3 times lower than the U.S. average. The total number of crime cases in 2019 was lesser than what was recorded the previous year.2018 crime figure stood at 1211 with 1,011 theft cases. The Troy Police Department maintains all records of police reports and arrests records within the city. To obtain a record, requesters may need to complete and submit the FOIL form. The Michigan State Police (MSP) maintains a searchable online registry that provides information on registered sex offenders in Troy and other parts of the state. How Do I Visit an inmate in Oakland County Jail?

Troy City Jail prohibits any of its arrestees from receiving a visitor. Anyone that must visit an arrestee must wait until such a person is transferred to Oakland County Jail. At the County jail, all inmate visits take place through a video visitation system and are scheduled by the visitor on an appointment basis only. Visitors may choose the date and time for a visit by creating an account with the department. Visits must be scheduled at least 48 hours earlier, and interested parties may visit an inmate from Wednesday through Sunday, visitations are not allowed on Monday and Tuesday. Oakland county jail allows off-site visits from a computer or cell phone for a fee of $7.50. Members of the public who are interested in visiting an inmate must come with a current valid driver's license, state ID, or passport. Children are allowed to visit an inmate if such a person is accompanied by an Adult. The facility only allows one child per visit. Residents can obtain more information by contacting the Office of the Oakland County Sheriff.

Are Troy Court Records Public?

Not all court records are open to the public. The availability of a record is determined by the court where the record is kept. The Clerk may not permit any record to be taken from the court without the order of the court. Courts records are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act request. MCR 15.232(h) exempts the judiciary from the Freedom of Information Law. Courts may provide access to public information in a register of actions through a publicly accessible website. Where and How to Get Public Troy

Marriage records are public information under the FOIL Act, and as such, these records are open for inspection or copying by members of the public. Marriage records are available at MDHHS. A person is eligible to request marriage records if the application form is completed, signed, and the required fee is paid. Interested persons may obtain a public record in person or by mail. To obtain a certified copy, individuals must be eligible and willing to pay. To be eligible to obtain a certified birth record, the requester must either be the registrant, parent or legal guardian, grandparents, attorney, or member of a law enforcement agency.
