Lake County Information

Lake County can be found in the state of Michigan. A census showed that Lake County had a total population of 12,096 in 2020. The current county seat is Baldwin.

It was created in 184 and organized in 1871.

Previously it was named Aishcum County, then renamed Lake County in 1843, for its many lakes.

Lake County does charge per record copy. Birth records cost $10.00 per first copy, and an extra $3.00 for every added copy requested simultaneously. Death certificates in Lake County cost $10.00 for the first copy and $3.00 for any further copy bought at the same time. Marriage records in Lake County cost $10.00 for the first copy and $3.00 for every extra copy.

NOTE - If members of the public want to obtain records in-person, they must follow a variety of guidelines in Lake County. The office is only open between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. To access records in Lake County, photo identification is needed. State IDs and driver's licenses will do just fine.
