What Are Newaygo County Public Records?

Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act states that Newaygo County public records include any writing that a public official prepares, owns, uses, or stores while performing their official functions. Newaygo County Crime Statistics

Law enforcement officials in Newaygo County collect crime and arrest data and forward it to the Michigan State Police. The State Police’s Criminal Justice Information Center (CJIC) collects the data (along with information from other counties) and pools it into its Annual Crime Report.

In 2017, the CJIC reported 153 violent crimes in Newaygo County, including two murders, 77 rapes, two robberies, and 72 cases of aggravated assault. It also reported 602 property crimes, broken into 147 burglaries, 423 cases of larceny, and 32 cases of vehicular theft.
