How to Find Criminal Records
Marquette county criminal records are primarily generated by the law enforcement agencies in the county, including the sheriff’s and police departments. These documents include arrest records, police records, county bookings and pictures that detail an individual’s arrests, conviction and incarceration. Criminal records may also contain information about felonies and misdemeanours committed by the individual. To acquire criminal records from the Sheriff’s office in person or via mail, requesters may need to provide:
- Names of the suspect(s) involved
- Date and time of the incident
- The location of the incident
- Officer’s name and rank
- Case number
Most of these records are only available to the public 60 days after they have been documented. The county office also provides individuals with a means to conduct a criminal records check with a $10.00 fee for all Criminal and Civil Record Checks. The Michigan State Police Department (MSPD) also stores, maintains and grants individuals access to criminal records and history through the Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT), which allows inquirers to conduct searches of public criminal history by name or by fingerprint.

How to Find Sex offender Information.
Residents of Marquette county can locate sex offenders within the neighbourhood by looking up the Michigan Sex Offender Registry for the names and other details of sex offenders in the county and their addresses. Inmates at the Marquette County Jail are afforded the privilege of visitations from friends and family provided the rules are obeyed.
- Visitors must be 17 years and above, anyone younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Visitors must provide valid photo identification
- Foods, drinks, tobacco packages etc are not allowed
- Visitors with pending warrants will be denied visits.
- Visitors dressed inappropriately will be denied entry into the facility.
- Inmates are allowed only 20 minutes of visits twice in a week with no more than 1 visit per day.

The inmates at the Marquette County Jail are not allowed to receive mail through the United States Postal Service except Legal Mail. An e-message program is now used to communicate with inmates.

How to FInd Marquette County Divorce Records
The state office maintains records of Marquette County divorces, but not the actual divorce decrees, those are only available at the county court where the case was heard. Inquirer may need to directly contact the office for divorce decrees.

How to Find Birth and Death records.
The Marquette county Clerk maintains records of vital events dating back to 1867. Birth records less than 100 years old are restricted to a group of authorized people, usually immediate family members or someone with a court order.
To request for a certified copy of a restricted birth record, the inquirer or heir will need to provide;
- Evidence that the subject of the record is deceased. I.e. Death certificate.
- Affidavit of an heir (filled)
- Valid photo identification which may be proven through email or fax

Birth records of over 100 years could be requested by anyone without restriction and with a completed birth certificate request form.
Death records are unrestricted and therefore can be requested directly from the county office by filling out the Death certificate request form.
NB: All certified records cost $10 for the first copy $5 for additional of the same record
When requesting for these records from the state office, the following facts should be given; Subject’s full name, gender, parents full names, date and time of birth or death, place (county/state), the purpose of the request, relationship to the subject of the record, etc.
Marriage records;
Marriage records from 1867 are available at the county office and they are unrestricted. To request the records from the county office, the inquirer should fill the Request for Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate form.
When requesting from the state office, the inquirer should have the following information ready; Names of both parties, date of marriage, place, purpose of the request, relationship to the subject(s) of the record.
